Obverse description Facing bee depicted pointing upward, rendered with naturalistic detail showing segmented body, outstretched wings, and prominent thorax; the civic abbreviation E-Φ (for Ephesos) flanks the bee on either side in the field. The entire design is contained within a border of dots. The bee, a longstanding civic emblem of Ephesos, is executed in bold high relief characteristic of the early Hellenistic bronze coinage of the city.
