Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of Emperor Justinian I facing right, the diadem rendered as a row of pellets, with the imperial robe similarly ornamented by a row of pellets at the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in a stylized late antique manner characteristic of Ravenna mint coinage. The Latin imperial legend encircles the bust within a beaded border.
