| Obverse description | Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justinian I facing right, rendered in the late antique Byzantine style characteristic of the Ravenna mint. The emperor's effigy is shown with a pearl diadem and military paludamentum, conveying imperial authority. The surrounding Latin legend reads D N IVSTINIANVS P P AVG, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The strike is irregular and somewhat flat, consistent with hammered silver coinage of the period. The flan edges are ragged, typical of this small-denomination silver issue. |
