The flanking legend, derived from the Greek BASILEOS LYSIMAXOY of the prototype, has fully degenerated into a series of irregular hash marks and geometric strokes in the fields. The exergual and field areas show the characteristic flat, irregular fabric of hand-struck barbarian gold coinage.
