The Icon of Minsk (Minskaya ikona) is among the most venerated objects in Belarusian Orthodox tradition, with documented history tracing to the late 15th century. According to historical accounts, it was discovered floating on the Svislach River in 1500 following the sack of Kiev by Crimean Tatars, retrieved by local residents, and subsequently installed in a church on the site that would become the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit — still its home today.
