Reverse description A naturalistically rendered gray monitor lizard (Varanus griseus), known locally as zemzen, is depicted in profile occupying the central field, shown in finely detailed relief with scaled texture and outstretched limbs. Desert flora including small shrubs and plants are scattered across the field, evoking the lizard's arid habitat. The inscription ZEMZEN arcs along the upper legend, while the denomination 1000 manat appears in the lower left field.
