Obverse description The coat of arms of San Marino occupies the central field, depicting three towers on a shield surmounted by a royal crown. Flanking the shield are two sprigs — an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right — tied together at the base, with a ribbon bearing the motto LIBERTAS in the lower portion. The encircling legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO arcs around the left and lower periphery of the coin in incuse lettering following the curve of the rim.
