Aanvullende informatie

San Marino issued this coin to mark the 1500th anniversary of the founding of the Benedictine Order — a milestone Benedict himself never witnessed, having died around 547 AD before monasticism cohered into the formal Rule that would govern Western religious life for centuries. The small republic maintains a tradition of silver commemoratives tied to Catholic anniversaries, which accounts for the frequency with which these issues appear on the market.

KM#112 was struck in modest quantities for collector sales rather than general circulation, leaving most examples in original mint state.
