Obverse description The three towers of San Marino — the Guaita, Cesta, and Montale — depicted in bold relief at the centre of the coin, each surmounted by a swallow in flight, emblematic of the republic. The design is set within a raised inner border, with the circular legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO running along the outer rim. The engraver's signature, CRETARA, appears in small characters at the base of the central design.
