Obverse description The Austrian double-headed eagle displayed in the centre of the field, its wings spread and each head surmounted by a dotted imperial orb. The escutcheon on the eagle's breast bears the Austrian arms of horizontal bars. The eagle's talons are elaborately rendered with foliate scrollwork below. The encircling legend reads · OESTERREICH · 100 SCHILLING, separated by raised dots, running along the inner border of the coin.

Reverse description The miraculous votive statue of the Virgin of Mariazell depicted full-length at centre, shown in the traditional belled robe adorned with horizontal bands of beading, floral motifs, and oval medallions, with a cross pendant at the chest and the Christ Child held before her. The crowned Virgin is surrounded by a radiate halo, and the base of the figure rests upon a cloud formation. The Latin legend MAGNA · MATER · AUSTRIAE arcs around the upper field, and the date of issue appears in the lower exergue.
