Kvint — short for Konʼyak Vino Naturaĺnoe Transnistrie — is a brandy distillery founded in Tiraspol in 1897 under the Russian Empire and remains one of Transnistria's most economically significant enterprises. The distillery's sports club, the subject of this coin, reflects the Soviet-era practice of major industrial enterprises sponsoring athletic teams, a tradition Transnistria maintained well after the 1991–1992 war that separated it from Moldova.
Transnistrian commemoratives from this period were struck in very limited quantities, primarily for collector export, as the territory operates outside international financial and numismatic frameworks.
