Obverse description The Mexican national arms occupy the gold centre field, depicting the Mexican eagle displayed facing left, perched upon a cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, with a serpent clutched in its beak and talon. The design is rendered in high-relief proof finish, with the gold centre creating a striking contrast against the silver ring. An ornamental wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the lower portion of the national arms. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs across the upper portion of the silver ring in raised Latin characters.
