This piece belongs to a long-running Casa de Moneda series celebrating Mexican states, each issued as a bimetallic proof combining a .999 gold centre with a .999 silver ring — a technically demanding format that the Mexico City mint has refined over decades of producing collector-grade bimetallics. Chihuahua, the largest state by area in Mexico, had obvious thematic weight for inclusion: its territory was the principal theater of Francisco Villa's División del Norte during the Revolution, and the state's mines at Santa Eulalia and Hidalgo del Parral fed silver production into Mexican coinage for centuries.
