Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features the Mexican national coat of arms in high-relief proof finish, struck in the bimetallic format with the central gold disc bearing the eagle design and the surrounding silver ring carrying the national legend. The central device depicts the Mexican golden eagle, displayed in left profile, perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop surrounded by water, with a serpent clutched in its beak and talons. An ornamental wreath of oak and laurel branches, tied with a ribbon, frames the lower portion of the central device within the gold field. The encircling legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS is inscribed in raised Latin letters along the upper periphery of the silver ring. The overall composition reflects the classical Republican style employed by the Casa de Moneda de México for its commemorative proof series.

Aanvullende informatie

This piece belongs to a Mexican series celebrating the country's pre-Columbian and colonial heritage, issued in bimetallic proof format — an approach Banco de México had refined through the 1990s Onza programs before applying it to commemorative denominations. The Chihuahua state issues were tied to a broader federalist numismatic project that ran through the mid-2000s, with each state given its own release rather than a unified national design.

The .999 fineness on both metals is notably purer than the standard .900 used in earlier Mexican gold coinage.
