| Obverse description | Head of Persephone facing left, her elaborately coiffed hair adorned with a wreath of reeds or grain and bound with a circular earring pendant visible below; the tresses are rendered in fine, deeply cut curls cascading around the nape in high artistic relief characteristic of the Syracusan school. The neck is bare and the face is depicted in idealized profile with refined classical features.
