Obverse description The obverse displays the crowned coat of arms of the Republic of San Marino at center, featuring the three towers of Monte Titano on a shield surmounted by a royal crown. The legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO arcs along the upper periphery, while the word LIBERTAS appears on a ribbon at the base of the shield. The engravers' names, Asselbergs and Frapiccini, are inscribed in small characters in the lower left field.

Reverse description The reverse depicts two robed figures in a classical scene evoking the theme of education: a standing male figure gestures instructively with a raised hand toward a seated or kneeling female figure who attentively receives instruction, rendered in a detailed relief style inspired by Renaissance iconography. The denomination L.100 is prominently inscribed in bold characters across the lower central field, with the date 1989 appearing in the exergue below.
