Additional information

The "Gildenhuis" series was issued by Belgian municipalities and civic organizations as official penningen — commemorative medallic pieces outside the regular coinage system — typically tied to guild anniversaries, town hall restorations, or local cultural jubilees. Anderlecht's 100th anniversary issue in this series almost certainly marks an institutional centenary rather than the founding of the commune itself, which dates to medieval origins. The patinated bronze finish was applied deliberately at striking, not acquired through circulation.
