Hungary's participation in FAO coinage programs during the 1990s was largely driven by international development commitments rather than domestic food policy priorities. Trial strikes — produced to test dies, planchets, or composition before a full issue is authorized — rarely enter circulation and often exist in quantities of a few dozen at most. Whether this piece preceded an approved issue or was abandoned entirely determines its numismatic weight far more than condition ever could.
