Slovenia hosted the World Rowing Championships at Lake Bled in 2011 — a return to a venue that had previously held the event in 1966 and 1979. Lake Bled's still, enclosed water makes it one of the few natural venues capable of meeting international competition standards without artificial lane separation infrastructure.
