Additional information

Germany's first euro-denominated gold coins, issued in 2002 alongside the currency changeover, were struck at all five German mints simultaneously — Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart, and Karlsruhe — each bearing its respective mint mark. Finding examples from Karlsruhe (J) is noticeably harder; that facility struck the fewest pieces across the inaugural series.
