Inter-Filac VZW was a Belgian philatelic and numismatic club operating in the Woumen-Diksmuide area of West Flanders — a region still deeply marked by First World War battlefield topography. Club-issued medal-coins of this type circulated as local exchange tokens among members, with the "Botaurus Stellaris" designation referencing the Eurasian bittern, a secretive marsh bird historically present in the reed beds of the Ijzer valley polders surrounding Diksmuide. The species had become a conservation concern in Belgium by the mid-1980s.
