| Additional information |
Abdij van Postel is a Norbertine abbey in the Belgian Kempen region, founded in the twelfth century and suppressed during the French Revolutionary occupation before being re-established in the nineteenth. Abbey tokens of this kind were issued as local tender for use within the monastic community and among visitors — a practice with deep roots in Belgian abbey economics that persisted well into the late twentieth century. The 1984 date aligns with the abbey's 900th anniversary commemorations.
