Obverse description Left-facing crowned bust of Bolesław I Chrobry (Boleslaus the Brave), first King of Poland, rendered in high relief with finely detailed chainmail or armored drapery at the truncation. The king wears an ornate royal crown with foliate and cross finials. The curved legend at upper left reads BOLESŁAW CHROBRY, while the dates 1025·1925 appear along the right field, commemorating the 900th anniversary of his coronation. A small engraver's initial is visible at the lower right of the bust truncation.
