Reverse description The reverse presents a commanding high-relief effigy of an armored Buddhist guardian deity (Weituo or a Heavenly King), modeled after the celebrated polychrome clay sculptures housed at Shuanglin Temple in Pingyao, Shanxi Province. The warrior figure is depicted in a dynamic three-quarter pose, clad in elaborate scale armor with a ferocious beast-face breastplate, one arm raised in a gesture of power. To the lower left, a subsidiary incuse vignette of the Shuanglin Temple roofline provides architectural context. The inscription 平遥古城·双林寺 (Pingyao Ancient City — Shuanglin Temple) appears along the upper left field in Chinese characters, while the denomination 10元 is inscribed to the lower left.
