The animal is rendered in highly detailed frosty relief against a mirror-polished field, with a dense bamboo grove filling the background. The denomination 10元 is inscribed to the left in the field, with the weight and fineness inscription 30g Ag 999 appearing along the lower exergue. China restructured its Panda bullion program in 2016, abandoning the fixed 1 troy ounce standard it had used since 1983 in favor of a metric 30-gram specification — a change driven partly by domestic policy preference for metric weights and partly by a desire to distinguish the series from Western bullion competitors.
