Reverse description Central field features a finely modelled high-relief composition of two Siberian tigers — a large adult crouching to the right with its tail curled forward, and a smaller cub standing to the left — set upon a rocky outcrop amid coniferous trees in the background. The legend TIGER arches along the upper periphery in spaced Latin capitals, while WILDLIFE is inscribed along the lower periphery in matching style, framing the wildlife scene within a polished mirror field.

Additional information

North Korea's domestic coinage has historically been split into two parallel systems — hard currency coins for foreign visitors and soft currency pieces for internal circulation. This aluminium 10 Won falls into the latter category, produced at a time when the country was still rebuilding its monetary framework following the disastrous currency reforms of the early 2000s. The 2009 redenomination, which wiped out most savings by converting old won at 100:1, rendered coins like this one economically obsolete within two years of striking.
