| Obverse description | Printed in mauve and grey, the obverse carries at left a vignette of Britannia seated within an ornate scrollwork cartouche, holding a trident and accompanied by a shield, set beneath a crowned frame. The central field bears the Bank of England promise-to-pay legend in elaborate script lettering, with the denomination 'Ten Shillings' rendered in large cursive text. To the right, a circular guilloche panel displays the numeral '10' over the word 'SHILLINGS', with the Chief Cashier's manuscript signature and place of issue appearing in the lower right. |
