The shift from genuine bimetallic construction to plated steel, completed across the series by the early 2010s, was a straightforward cost-reduction measure as base metal prices climbed.

Nizhny Novgorod's inclusion reflects its designation as a "City of Labor Valor" by presidential decree in 2020, recognizing its industrial output during the Second World War, particularly from the Gorky Automobile Plant.
