Beschrijving keerzijde A stylized ancient Egyptian pharaonic head in left profile dominates the right portion of the field, rendered in a bold, modernist design with a nemes headdress. A radiant sun disc rises above the head to the upper right. An olive branch extends behind the head along the right border. To the left of the bust, the commemorative inscription '15 May 1971' (١٥ مايو ١٩٧١) is inscribed in three lines in Arabic, referencing the date of President Sadat's Corrective Revolution. The entire design is framed by a finely reeded border.

Aanvullende informatie

The "Corrective Revolution" designation commemorates Anwar Sadat's bloodless internal coup of May 1971, in which he purged the leftist faction of the Arab Socialist Union — allies of the Soviet-backed Nasserist old guard — and consolidated power under his own more pragmatic, eventually pro-Western alignment. Egypt was reorienting its entire foreign policy during the years this coin circulated, culminating in the 1978 Camp David Accords. Sadat signed a peace treaty with Israel the year this series concluded.
