At the center, the denomination numeral '١٠' (10) is prominently displayed, flanked to the left by the Hijri year '١٣٩٨' and to the right by the Gregorian year '١٩٧٨', both rendered in Eastern Arabic numerals. Below the central numeral, the denomination in words 'قروش' (Piastres) is inscribed in Arabic script. The entire design is set within a reeded border, with the legend and numerals in high relief against a flat field. |

Egypt's Cairo International Fair had been running since 1926, but the late 1970s issues commemorating it coincided with Sadat's open-door economic policy — the *Infitah* — which was explicitly designed to attract foreign investment and trade. Striking commemorative coins tied to the Fair was part of a broader effort to signal economic liberalization to international partners.
KM#479 is one of several Egyptian commemorative 10 Qirsh types from this period sharing the same copper-nickel specification, minted at the Cairo Mint.
