Clydesdale Bank's De La Rue-printed £10 notes from this period occupy an interesting transitional moment in Scottish banking. The bank had been absorbed into the Midland Bank group in 1920, but retained its right of note issue — a privilege Scottish banks have held since before the Acts of Union and defended repeatedly against Westminster pressure throughout the twentieth century.
De La Rue's London production of notes payable in Scotland was unremarkable logistically but worth noting: the legal obligation to back Scottish private issue pound-for-pound with Bank of England notes was already firmly in place by this date, a requirement introduced under the Currency and Bank Notes Act 1928.
