The United Arab Republic designation — the short-lived political union between Egypt and Syria — dissolved in 1961, yet Egypt continued issuing notes under that name until 1971, a decade after Syria's withdrawal. This note belongs to that awkward interregnum, its header a relic of a defunct political project that Cairo refused to formally abandon.

Four different signatories span the eleven-year print run, each change reflecting a ministerial reshuffle rather than a new series. Hegazy's signature variant is the latest, appearing only after 1968.
