| Opmerkingen |
The XIV. Armeekorps oversaw prisoner-of-war camps across the Baden region, and its inspectorate issued camp currency to control what prisoners could buy and to prevent usable German coinage from circulating among a captive population with potential escape motivation. These fractional Pfennig notes were strictly internal instruments — they had no value outside the wire and were worthless upon repatriation, which is precisely why so few were preserved by former inmates.
Locally printed in Karlsruhe rather than through a central authority, quality varied considerably within the series.
