Reverse description The reverse displays the denomination '10' in large, bold numerals prominently at the centre of the field. Arching above in Roman serif capitals is the word 'Wertmarke' (token/voucher), and curving below in matching style is 'Pfennig', together identifying the face value of this municipal emergency issue. Two small rosette ornaments serve as separators flanking the lower legend. The overall design is austere and functional, consistent with post-war notgeld token production.

Additional information

Hann. Münden issued this aluminium piece in 1947 as Notgeld — emergency municipal currency produced to address the catastrophic coin shortage following Germany's postwar monetary collapse. The Allied occupation authorities had suspended Reichsmark coinage, and local administrations across the British and American zones scrambled to fill the gap before the 1948 Währungsreform replaced the entire currency system. Most of these municipal issues circulated for under a year.
