A curved legend arcs along the upper periphery bearing the series title HISTORIA POSTAL DE CUBA, while the historic date 1765 appears on the left and the issue year 1992 below, flanking the ship. The lower legend reads CORREO MARITIMO DEL ESTADO, identifying the subject as the state sea mail service.
