Reverse description The reverse features a bold, high-relief sculptural rendering of the Cabeza de Coyolxauhqui, the disembodied stone head of the Aztec moon goddess Coyolxauhqui, depicted in three-quarter view facing slightly right. The effigy is modeled after the monumental carved disc discovered at the Templo Mayor in Mexico City, with characteristic circular ear ornaments (the golden bells from which the deity takes her name), a protruding tongue, and an elaborate headdress of scrollwork and decorative elements across the brow. The denomination legend DIEZ PESOS appears in the lower field, with the date 1978 directly below in large numerals.
