| Reverse description | A bare-headed portrait bust of José Martí, Cuban patriot and national hero (1853–1895), faces left in high relief, rendered in a classical engraving style consistent with the work of Charles Edward Barber. The motto PATRIA Y LIBERTAD arcs above as a curved legend along the upper periphery. The alloy fineness 900 M and the weight 16.718 G. are inscribed on either side of the bust in the field, while the date appears in the exergue below. A continuous row of denticles frames the design close to the rim. |
