The composition depicts the white-painted lighthouse tower and its associated keeper's buildings perched atop rugged sea cliffs, with vivid green coastal vegetation in the foreground and a turquoise sea and dramatic sky rendered in polychrome colour behind. The denomination TEN PENCE arcs along the upper periphery in raised incuse lettering, while SOUTH STACK curves along the lower field following the inner border of the coin.
