| Obverse description | Unadorned effigy of King Carl XV facing right, rendered as a bare-headed bust with natural hair swept back, enclosed within a toothed inner border. The encircling legend reads CARL XV SVERIGES NORR. G. O. V. KONUNG, identifying the monarch as King of Sweden, Norway, the Goths and the Wends. The engraver's initials L.A. appear below the truncation of the neck. The portrait is finely modeled in a classical mid-19th-century style, with the king shown in civilian dress. |
