Obverse description Facing frontal bust of Emperor Maurice Tiberius, diademed, draped, and cuirassed, rendered in the characteristically schematic late Byzantine style. The imperial effigy occupies the full field, enclosed within a decorative crown or border. The obverse legend, partially legible on this heavily patinated example, runs around the periphery in Latin characters. The portrait reflects the standardized iconography of the Constantinopolitan mint tradition as adapted for provincial Numidian issues.
