Obverse description Facing bust of Emperor Maurice Tiberius, helmeted and crowned with a cross atop the helmet, clad in cuirass and imperial paludamentum. The emperor holds a globus cruciger in his right hand and a shield decorated with a horseman motif in his left. Pendilia hang to either side of the helmet. The surrounding Latin legend reads D N TIЬ MAVRC P P AVG, partially visible around the bust in the field.
