| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field dominated by the large Greek numeral I (representing the value of 10 nummi), flanked on either side by subsidiary letters identifying the denomination and mint series. A prominent cross potent or plain cross appears above the numeral in the upper field, serving as the type-defining symbol for this Thessalonica issue. The letter A appears to the right of the numeral, with P to the left, consistent with the reverse arrangement of BCV 187. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show the characteristic rough texture of hammered Byzantine minor bronze coinage. The legends and numerals are boldly if crudely rendered, clearly legible despite the heavy wear and encrustation visible on this example. |
