Reverse description Large denomination mark X (the Greek numeral for 10), signifying the decanummium value, occupying the majority of the reverse field. Four small cross or star ornaments are placed symmetrically in each quadrant formed by the arms of the X, a decorative feature characteristic of the Syracuse mint issue. A short horizontal stroke or exergual line appears beneath the X. The field surface is flat with a granular patina consistent with the hammered copper fabric of this provincial issue.
