The "Corrective Revolution" designation refers to Anwar Sadat's self-styled coup of May 1971, in which he purged the Nasserist left wing of the Arab Socialist Union and consolidated personal control — framing the move as a correction of Nasser's socialist excesses rather than a simple power grab. Coins bearing this inscription were issued across several denominations through the 1970s as the Sadat government sought to embed the event's legitimacy into everyday commerce.
