Opmerkingen

Chiesanuova was a civilian internment camp established in the Padua area under the Italian Fascist regime, primarily used to detain Slovenes, Croats, and other subjects from the occupied territories of Yugoslavia following Italy's 1941 invasion. Camp scrip of this kind was issued to prevent internees from accessing the external economy while still permitting controlled internal exchange — a policy applied across the Italian internment system, though individual camp issues varied considerably in form and survival rate.

Very few of these notes reached collectors through normal channels. Most were either confiscated upon liberation or simply destroyed with the camp records.
