Nagymegyer (now Hurbanovo, Slovakia) hosted one of the Austro-Hungarian Empire's larger internment facilities during the First World War, and like many K.u.K. prisoner of war camps, it issued its own internal currency to prevent coinage from leaking out of the camp economy. These Lagergeld notes had no value beyond the wire — they could not be exchanged at civilian banks and were surrendered or destroyed upon a prisoner's release or transfer.

Globus was a well-established Budapest commercial printer, not a security printing house, which shows in the relatively modest production quality of the series. The 10 Kronen/10 Korona bilingual denomination reflects the dual official nomenclature of the empire itself.
