Alongside the athletes, a gold stater of Philip II of Macedon — historically associated with the ancient Olympic Games — is depicted. The legend ІГРИ ХХХ ОЛІМПІАДИ appears within the design, referencing the Games of the XXX Olympiad held in London in 2012. |

| Additional information |
Ukraine issued this coin for the London 2012 Games under the National Bank's ongoing commemorative program, which had been producing Olympic-themed silver pieces since the late 1990s. The XXX Olympiad was the first held in London since 1948, when Britain was still rationing food and the Games were organized on a wartime austerity budget — a stark contrast to the £8.9 billion spent in 2012.
