Ukraine co-hosted Euro 2012 with Poland — the first time the tournament was held in Eastern Europe. The bid was awarded in 2007 despite significant skepticism from UEFA about infrastructure readiness, and the construction scramble that followed was genuinely chaotic, with Kyiv's Olympic Stadium completing renovations just months before the opening match.
