正面描述 Salmon-toned Notgeld note dated 15 May 1920, enclosed within a decorative leaf-and-vine typographic border. The left portion carries the denomination '10 Heller' in a dark cartouche beneath the heading 'Notgeld der Gemeinde Altlengbach,' followed by a four-line guarantee text and three manuscript signatures of the Bürgermeister, Vizebürgermeister, and geschäftsführender Gemeinderat. To the right, a finely engraved vignette presents a panoramic landscape view of Altlengbach with a church spire, village rooftops, and wooded hills, with the printer's imprint 'Eduard Sieger, Wien' in the lower margin.

背面描述 Cream-toned reverse enclosed by a diamond-pattern typographic border, with the denomination numeral '10' repeated in the upper corners flanking the heading 'Notgeld der Gemeinde Altlengbach' in Gothic blackletter script. The central text block, set in Fraktur type, explains the issuance of interest-free cash notes totalling 21,000 Kronen to alleviate the small-change shortage, valid for acceptance until 31 December 1920 and redeemable in legal tender between 15 and 31 December 1920. A cautionary line at the foot reads 'Die Nachahmung wird bestraft.'

备注

Altlengbach is a small market town in Lower Austria, and this 10 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept Austrian municipalities after the First World War — small communities printing their own emergency fractional currency to address the acute coin shortage that followed the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system. Eduard Sieger was a Vienna-based printer responsible for a large number of these local issues, producing them efficiently and cheaply for dozens of rural communes that lacked any practical alternative.

The issuing authority here is the Gemeinde itself, not a savings bank or merchants' association — a distinction that mattered legally at the time.
