Overlaid in the lower left field are two gold-plated renderings of historical Rhenish gold guilders (Rheinischer Gulden), one showing an enthroned figure and the other displaying an imperial coat of arms with eagle, both rendered in high relief with gilt finish. The legend '1500-1558' arcs along the upper left periphery and 'CAROLUS V' appears in bold lettering along the upper right, identifying the monarch commemorated. |
